Like Skulls?

I have been trying to get my MoJo back... I just seem so 'burnt-out' creatively. So Lately I troll around the internet, looking for something to 'spark' me up. Since I used to do quite a bit of pen and ink drawings, and would like to start again - that is kind of what most of my searches have been lately.
Here is a site with an incredible talent, Justin Kamerer - his site, Angryblue, shows off his incredibly detailed drawings. I set the link to take you to his posters page - but be sure and check out his other stuff!

Character Ideas... Here's #1!

I made a list of 'characters' last year. My original idea was to make a series of "action figures" based on the list of names I came up with. A few of the names were Pool Shark, Grease monkey, Book Worm etc.. all those common nicknames we've all heard throughout our lives. I have decided to make vector illustrations of them first, and then if there is interest - figure out a way to develop them in plastic figures. So here's my first one! "Bar Fly" - feel free to send ideas!

Rapidiograph pen Art

I was quite impressed with this artwork done with a Rapidiograph pen. I also have done most of my pen and inks with this type of pen, so I hope you like it as much as I did!

Line art - Lichtenstein?

Here is a  drawing I did for a Worth 1000 contest entry last year.
I wanted to show this in black and white, before I color it digitally.

Old class sketch.

This was one of those 'sketching' exercises we did in art class.... to define just a part of the subject, after sketching the whole bag.
I may revisit this as a drawing exercise soon - I like this :)

Another Caricature

So on my Facebook account, I joined the group "Caricaturama 2000" - kind of a 'contest' page to show off your caricature work. the caricature that gets the most votes, gets to pick the subject of the next weeks caricature. On this particular week - the subject was Bruce Lee.

Caricature practice

So I seem to do pretty well drawing caricature when I use the computer and my pen tablet.Where I have trouble is when I try to "get it right" the first time using paper. This I did on computer. Nate is a friend of mine, who happened to have a good pic.

The Beauty of Winter

Last winter I took some 'wintery' photos. Since no snow has
fallen this year - thought I would share them with you.
-I'm no photographer, so I hope you like them!
(I did add a filter to the car photo)

Wood Carving - New in 2012

So my previous post explained that I had taken up wood carving.
Trouble is... that was in 2011 - and I haven't gotten serious with it until about 3 months ago. I also joined a local Wood Carvers group.
Here is the results of my new hobby. So much to learn - but definetly a break from drawing on the computer all the time!

I've Taken up Wood Carving

Okay... so my wife, Renee  bought me a  beginning Wood Carving book a while back, and I would like to do some projects, if for any other reason, to see if I can. I actually was interested years ago, when my sons were small - I still have a bag of Bass Wood!
So... I found the bag and took out a small block of wood. I immediately realized that Bass Wood is a lot harder than I anticipated - so instead of using a knife, I used my Dremel.
So I wanted to start with something simple - I decided to carve a mushroom.
Here is a series of photos showing my progree - this actually took me half a day!

I had my wife do a final touch and give it a paint job - she says she can't paint - I disagree!

And here is the final carving!

Once I get a better handle on my wood and tools - I would like to do more carving I think.

Gat to Paradise

This piece is actually a photo my wife Renee took on our recent cruise in the Caribbean. I brought this photo into Photoshop, added a border, and applied a 'watercolor' filter to it.

The total size is around 32" x 36". I have printed it out on canvas, and have ordered the stretcher bars. I will be picking the bars up next week, and will probably post the final product on here as well! What do you think?
